Whirlpool Cabrio UL Code When Empty

Whirlpool Cabrio UL Code When Empty

If you own a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and see the UL code on the LCD Display even when there’s no laundry inside, you’re not alone, and you don’t need to worry(Whirlpool Cabrio UL Code When Empty).

Usually, this error code indicates an imbalance problem that the washer machine thinks exists, even though it’s empty. It’s like the Whirlpool Cabrio washer is telling you it’s feeling a bit unsteady even when it’s not carrying any clothes.

If your Cabrio washer is throwing a UL error code, there is the possibility that your washer is struggling for these reasons.

I am going to tell you the most common three reasons your washer could be throwing a UL code and how to fix it.

Let’s dive into why this might happen to your washer and the steps you can take to fix it.

Why Your Whirlpool Cabrio UL Code Showing When Empty

The reasons why your Whirlpool Cabrio washer might throw this ul error code with these 3 possible and most common causes.

  • Clothing in the drum is not evenly distributed.
  • Crack In The Stator
  • Faulty Suspension Rods

Let’s move on to the first solution…

1. Clothing in the drum is not evenly distributed

The most obvious reason is that the clothing is not distributed evenly/appropriately in the drum. That means undistributed clothes can unbalance the washer, and in that way, the washing machine has to stop itself from spinning.

Otherwise, the drum will hit the sides of the cabinet wall.

The solution to that is to redistribute the clothes. Don’t put your clothes on one step on one side, you need to put the clothes in a washer divided shape in a circle.

Another solution is to add more clothes in to counterbalance the clothes that are already in there you want to keep the washer manageable.

That’s a fairly easy and obvious fix, and most people probably tried that fix before coming to this article. If you still see the ul code on the display, let’s go to reason number two.

2. Crack In The Stator

If your Whirlpool Cabrio is still throwing the UL code, your washer stator of the motor might be cracked. In order to get access to the stator, you are gonna have to tip the machine on its back.

All right, so in order to inspect the stator, we’ll have to remove the rotor. The rotor is just held in by a bolt, here you”‘ll need an Allen key.

Using an Allen key or screwdriver, open the rotor of the motor. Typically if there’s a crack in the stator, it’ll be anywhere on the white portion.

Keep in mind that the crack could be a hairline or like that. If you see cracks on the stator, then I recommend you replace it.

For replacement for the stator, you need to undo the four bolts that are responsible for holding it. And take off the motor connector.

That’s all, it should come right off, and this part is a little bit expensive, but it does beat buying a new machine

Move on to the third reason if your Whirlpool Cabrio washer still stucks with the UL code.

3. Faulty Suspension Rods

This is probably also the most common reason, which is the suspension rods. Faulty suspension rods can make the washer unstable.

All right to get access to the suspension rods, you will have to come to the back of the washer and undo quarter-inch screws on the top of the green bracket.

After opening the screws, you need to take the top part and pull it towards you and then push it up. Pull it off the hooks, and we should be able to lean it back against the wall.

There are four suspension rods in each corner of the washer and install all replacement Rod step by step. I like to do these by one rod at a time instead, there are some fixers that do all four at once.

I find that to a new bee a little bit difficult as the entire tub will drop down. Then it’s more difficult for the new one but to each their own you will like the one out one method.

To replace them first have to take out the old ones and in order. To do that you want to stick your hand in there and pull up on this and just unhook it from the bearing.

it should drop right down, stick your hand down there, and take it out of from right here bottom.

You have to take down all suspension rods one by one.

Now, install all four rods by sliding them through the slit, it could be a little bit harder for you. I also recommend that, along with the suspension rod replace the suspension bearings.

After installing the rods, put the lid back down and screw it back in, and that should resolve the issue.

So, that’s how you fix a UL code on a Whirlpool Cabrio washer.

Final Words | whirlpool cabrio ul code when empty

And just to recap real quick the first reason I gave was above that it’s unbalanced load caused by the load in the washer being unbalanced.

To fix that issue best thing to do is redistribute that load or provide a counter load. Obviously, you don’t want to overload your washer.

The second thing is that there could be a crack in the stator of the machine’s motor.

Inspect the stator, if you see any cracks on the stator, replacement is best to do.

The third and probably the most likely reason behind the unevenly distributed load is that the suspension rods are worn down.

If that’s the case, those will also need to be replaced.

So, hopefully, this article helped you to repair your Whirlpool Cabrio washer. And if it did, make sure you share it with others.
